Folkmoot 3:

THE MYTH of THE VIKINGS

Monday 7pm 23rd March 2026
Online

For our third Folkmoot we’re taking on the Vikings and what they mean for how we shape and understand folk culture. We aren’t just talking about their actual history but at the space between historic truth, retelling, folk culture and national identity. And how that pattern is repeated across the folk scene today,

Joined by Natalie Hopwood and others, we’ll look at how something real becomes folklore, and how that folklore informs how we think of ourselves today

Folkmoot 2:

EAST ANGLIA AS A FOLK LANDSCAPE

With Simon Nunn (The Holloway), The East Anglian Folklore Centre, Mike Hankin and more!

Sunday 7pm 1st March 2026
at The Holloway, Norwich

The second Folkmoot is being held at The Holloway in Norwich where I will be joined by guests to talk about East Anglia and its reputation, role and place as a ‘folk landscape’ in the folk revival scene today. East Anglia (and Norfolk in particular) is one of a handful or highly romaticised folk landscapes with the bleak and flat fenland, England’s haunted Atlantis in Dunwich, Suffolk and, of course, the lgend of the black shuck.

Join Simon Nunn, The East Anglian Folklore Centre, Mike Hankin and more to discuss what this all means for the area, whether this attention should be celebrated as an opportunity or whether it’s doing more harm than good.
